What exactly is Zeop?

Zeop is a software product that you install on your own web server to launch and host an online video community site. Users then post videos to your server, where they can be viewed by the public. You are the administrator, and you control which videos are accepted, what categories to set up, what video resolution and compression levels to support, and so on.

What kind of web server do I need to run Zeop?

You'll need a robust Microsoft web server with ample storage and bandwidth capabilities. We recommend starting with a minimum 1TB of storage and 3mb of bandwidth. The more people use your video community, the more storage and bandwidth you'll need (serving video over the web takes a lot of bandwidth). You can control the global video resolution and compression settings to save storage space and bandwidth. Zeop runs only on Microsoft web servers (IIS) and runs on ASP with SQL.

Can you provide a web server and storage that I can rent for hosting a video site using Zeop?

Currently, we do not offer hosting services. We provide the software technology only. Customers of Zeop must provide their own hardware, hosting, storage and bandwidth.

Can I try Zeop before buying it?

Yes, you can see the Zeop Media Engine working on the web right now at http://video.zeop.com. You can also purchase the Zeop Media Engine and enjoy a 30-day satisfaction guarantee, giving you plenty of time to evaluate Zeop on your own server.

What browsers does Zeop support for end users?

Zeop supports all the popular browsers on Mac and PC. End users can view videos regardless of what type of computer they use.

How many videos will Zeop support?

This depends on which edition you license (click here to view them). Our highest capacity Zeop license supports up to 100,000 videos.

What is the maximum file size limit per upload?

Zeop demo systems have an upload limit is 100 megabytes. Once purchased, file size limits can be set as high as 2 gigabytes per file.

What does the administrator have control over?

The administrator (that's you) controls the users, videos, and all global settings. This includes setting the video compression level, audio compression, video resolution, user rights (determining which users can review and approve videos, for example), plus the contents of the page (header, footer, margins, ad placement, etc.)

What video codecs does Zeop support for uploaded videos?

Zeop automatically converts all uploaded videos from their native format into Flash video files. It supports all the popular video codecs, including videos from web cams, mobile phones, video cameras, AVI files and many more.

How many distinct video websites will Zeop allow me to run from my web server?

Zeop supports the creation of an unlimited number of video websites from the same physical server. You could host a dozen different video sites using one Zeop license. The total number of videos across all sites is what's counted to determine your licensing level. (Click here to view pricing and licensing levels.)

Does Zeop allow me to place web advertisements next to videos?

Yes, Zeop gives you control over the space ABOVE the videos (perfect for a banner ad) and BESIDE the videos (perfect for a tower ad). You control what goes there. You could put a list of URLs, links, ads, Adsense, or whatever you want.

What kind of security features are included in Zeop?

Zeop supports user-level security with assignable rights. The administrator (the power user) can approve, reject or delete users. They can also assign which users have the rights to view and approve (or reject) videos. In addition to user-level rights, the Zeop engine is built with defenses against SQL Injection attacks (which hackers use to compromise your database) and DDoS attacks (which hackers use to overload your web server and cause it to crash).

What is the annual license fee?

There is an annual license fee required to continue using Zeop each year. This fee covers unlimited updates, upgrades and phone technical support.
